For more information, ldapclient with a manual config to setup
password authentication. upon reboot, it posts the hostname and then
said ldap nis domain name is and then would hang. At that point, we
got it into single user and ran ldapclient uninit, which wiped out the
LDAP configuration, but now upon reboot, it comes up on boot to the
point where it says:
Hostname: mbox02
NIS domain name is
and then hangs
We're running opensolaris nv67

We were trying to get our opensolaris (nv67) to authenticate using
LDAP - now when the host is rebooted, it is now trying to obtain an
NIS domain (we're using DNS) and the boot process hangs.
We have a boot CD but don't know how to disable NIS via svcadm once
booted to the DVD. When we try to boot single user mode, it asks
for the root password and then hangs.
We think that if we could boot to the machine and run an svcadm
disable svc:/network/nis/client:default that we would be ok - is
there a way to boot to the DVD and then mount our rootpool and edit
something to disable nis without going through the SMF facilities?
