Bind forwarders on Solaris 8

hello, would anyone be able to enlighten me as to how does bind 9 chose which forwarders in it's forwarders list to forward to?

forwarders { host1, host2, host3 e.t.c. }. does it start at host1, and if it doesn't get an answer move on down the list one by one? or does it round robin?

i am running bind 9 on sunos 5.8. there are 4 servers split by an intranet firewall appliance. two on the outside and 2 on the inside.

cheers,
jj
