have three alphaservers: a 1000 4/233 running 4.0d, a 1000A 5/400 running
4.0d and a 1000A 4/266 running 4.0e. No patches have been applied to any.
I can get my DE600 on the 4.0e system to run full duplex, but I cannot get
the others to.
I have ew*_mode set to FastFD, I have also tried autosense, I have
IFCONFIG_1="1.2.3.4 netmask 255.0.0.0 speed 200" statements in rc.config for
all three servers, three nics in each server. The firmware for the 1000A
5/400, running at half duplex is 5.7-80, the firmware of the 1000A 4/266,
running at full duplex is 5.3-95. So, I doubt that the newer firmware is
the issue, though stranger things have happened.
There are many summaries in the archives dealing with similar issues, but I
cannot find a resolution to my problem. Do I need to upgrade the other
servers to 4.0e? As each alpha is different than the others, is it the
revision of the hardware?
All suggestions welcome.
