SRM & Alpha Bios?

I plan to update the firmware on a DS20E to v6.4
from version 6.0-8. The firmware release notes say if
updating the AlphaBIOS on a 21264 CPU based system (like
the DS20) then you must install the "HAL Revision G" or
else the system will hang at boot time.
(p.6 of the console firmware release notes)
I only plan to update the SRM console, but I'm wondering is
the AlphaBIOS updated automatically at the same time?
(if I do an lfu update)
Do I need to get the "HAL Revision G"??
