Just trying to set up a simple text printer

      I've been trying to connect an HP 8000 printer to a Tru64 5.1a box and no
    matter what I do to the printcap, I get the same result.

      It prints the first line, stairsteps the next line about 70 characters
    over, and the rest of the page is blank.

      I've used the printer setup utility according to what was in my Tru64
    management book, set it up manually according to several examples I found on
    the web, but always the same thing. The install procedure puts filters for
    the 8000 in, but it's the same if I take them out.

      All I want to do is print text files. Is there something in the printer
    itself that is causing the problem, or is there a special printcap entry
    that I need to use?

      Any suggestions would be appreciated.
