    Original Question was:

    >

    >A colleague and I have been tasked with implementing enhanced security (including password aging) on our Tru-64 Alphas. We >are on 5.1a, build 1885. I need some general information as to what is required to do this? What manuals, will it require >a kernel MAKE? Any assistance would be much appreciated, and I will provide a summary.

Many thanks to all who replied, including:

    Eric Steed
    Ann Majeske
    Joseph A. Senulis
    Trevor osatchuk
    Dan Byrd
    Denise Dumas
    Nickola Milutinovic
    Eric Sisson
    Darryl Cook
    Michel James Bradford
    NotariE@usa.redcross.org
    Spider Broadman
    and, Martin Moore

    Summary:

There seems to be a difference of opinion as to whether enhanced security will require a kernel re-build or not. I believe that if auditing is initiated, the rebuild is required. Thanks to many for the useful links to the security manual, which I will print and read. I also enjoyed the powerpoint presentation, it gave me a useful overview.

Once again, the managers have come to the rescue! Thanks again to all.
