Sorry for the long delay with this summary. This problem was low priority
and it took this long to get back around to it.

Thanks to all who replied. Suggestions were made to be certain to use
/usr/bin/passwd and also to load Patch 5. Neither of these suggestions worked.

I still don't know the actual reason, but I had originally loaded the SSO
subsets with the intention of testing some of those features. This includes
    Kerberos.
At the suggestion of HP support, I removed the SSODOC200 and SSOW2K200
subsets and rebooted. This removed the Kerberos setup. It also resolved the
problem. HP is going to investigate further, but for now I can continue
with the configuration of the system.

    Hello Managers,
I found a similar post about this problem in the archives but no summary.
In a new build of T64 v5.1A patch kit 4, Enhanced security enabled,
whenever I use the "passwd" command, the password change routine is
properly called and the password is changed, however, I receive a "memory
    fault" upon exiting.
    Any ideas or suggestions?
    Thanks.
    John
