I have now got an extra couple of servers so I can have to seperate
clusters.
The general opinion was that this is a bad idea, and not recommened as a
clustered solution.

Udo's suggestion was:

There is a very strong rule with multiple clusters in a SAN. They should not
see each other or each others disks. So you can do this but you need zoning
in the SAN. And you need access lists on the luns you create in the HSG80.
And every time you change a machine from one cluster to the other you should
change these settings. And don't forget to run wwidmgr each time.
And have seperate MC hubs for each cluster.

Original Post:

I have a ES45 and a GS140 with memory channel and HSG80s.
I am planning on having 2 internal boot disks, one with 5.1A and the other
with 5.1B and seperate cluster root,usr and var on the SAN for both
versions.

The goal is to be able to have the two servers in either a 5.1A cluster,
both booting from dsk0 for example or 5.1B off dsk1.
Now, the interesting bit. If i use a quorum disk the cluster will form with
only one server up (Needs 3 votes, gets 2). But my goal is to be able to
have a 5.1A cluster on one node and 5.1B on the other. From what i know this
should be possible as both versions will have different boot disks and
different cluster areas on the SAN?. I am going to have a MC hub and not
Virtual hub mode.

Will the memory channel let me do this or will it see a cluster on the other
side and try to join even though its a different base version.

My other option is to create the cluster on both sides at 5.1A and do a
rolling upgrade on one side to 5.1B Then i could have them at the different
versions in a cluster. My feeling is that this is a bad idea what do you lot
think?.

The reason i want this setup is to be able to do app testing on different
base version but in a cluster albeit with only one real node, and i cant buy
more alphas.
