    One reply which offer a work around.

    When the processes are stopped, restart them with the
    "fg" command.

    And a debug idea
    Modify the sys_check script by inserting a set -x
    in order to trace execution and discover the failure
    point.

    "fg" works and is running now, set -x will come later.
