    Hi all,

    In summary, these attributes are no longer supported by the SNMPv2-capable agent in Tru64 5.x .

    The following feedback to this question was received from HP:

    "The 'missing' attributes are from the snmp subtree which is defined in RFC 1214.
    The V4.0F os_mibs supported RFC's 1213, 1285, 1231 & 1514 (see the os_mibs manual page).
    Note that although os_mibs implemented RFC 1214 it was not supported.
    When the SNMPv2 support was added in Tru64 UNIX V5.0 the unsupported code implementing the SNMPv1 snmp subtree was removed and no new code was added to implement the SNMPv2 snmp subtree as defined by RFC 1907.
    The V5.1B os_mibs implements and supports only RFC's 1213, 1231, 1285, 1514, 2011, 2012, 2013 & 2358."

    I do not have access to the Tru64 5.0 Release Notes to check whether these changes were mentioned anywhere.
    At least as a Tru64 5.1B user, the documentation is not really sufficient to understand why these attributes, which are to my understanding actually defined in RFC1213, are no longer supported.

    Best regards,
    Michael

    Betreff: Missing SNMP MIB-2 attributes on 5.1B system ?

    Dear Managers

    I just noticed that on a DS-10 running Tru64 5.1B+PK3, snmpd is not answering anymore for some MIB-2 snmp-related attributes, and I wonder what might have caused this change?

    The attributes which now return noSuchName are:

      SNMPv2-MIB::snmpOutPkts.0
      SNMPv2-MIB::snmpInReadOnlys
      SNMPv2-MIB::snmpInTotalReqVars
      SNMPv2-MIB::snmpInTotalSetVars
      SNMPv2-MIB::snmpInGetRequests
      SNMPv2-MIB::snmpInGetNexts
      SNMPv2-MIB::snmpInSetRequests
      SNMPv2-MIB::snmpInGetResponses
      SNMPv2-MIB::snmpInTraps
      SNMPv2-MIB::snmpOutTooBigs
      SNMPv2-MIB::snmpOutNoSuchNames
      SNMPv2-MIB::snmpOutBadValues
      SNMPv2-MIB::snmpOutGenErrs
      SNMPv2-MIB::snmpOutGetResponses
      SNMPv2-MIB::snmpOutTraps

    On older systems using 4.0F these were still available.
    Strangely, some of the attributes, such as snmpInPkts, are still available from the agent.
    Has anyone experienced something similar?

    Regards,
    Michael Bütow
