Since posting my summary regarding compilation of gcc 3.4.0, I was informed
by Dustin Marquess (Dustin.Marquess@allegiancetelecom.com) and Nikola
Milutinovic (Nikola.Milutinovic@ev.co.yu) that my solution was
unnecessarily complicated. Dustin said:
The ideal solution would be to add -ieee to your CFLAGS before you run
configure. If you do that, you won't need to change any code.
Nikola said pretty much the same thing:
The correct solution is to use ONLY "-ieee". That will define NAN to
whatever it should be.
Thanks to both of you for your clarifications!
