Here is a summary to the follow question:

I have been asked to compare the performance of two servers. One is an ES40 with 4 x 833MHz (EV6.8AL) CPUs and the other an 8400-5/625 with 8 x 613MHz (EV5.6) CPUs. I have searched the archives and found some references to a Digital web site although it has since been removed.

Where can I find general Alpha CPU performance information?

    Thanks go to:

    --------------------------------------------------------------

The general consensus was that the ES40 with its newer architecture should perform far better than the 8400. This is also consistent with our observation.

Alpha System CPU performance figures are available at

    http://h18002.www1.hp.com/alphaserver/performance/perf_by_name.html

This site was very helpful. Some also pointed to

    www.spec.org

although this did not provide the information I required.

    Regards,

    Zoran.
