Summary: Telnet and ftp errors

     I have a TRU64 5.1B patch kit 4 ( not 6 sorry!) system on which telnet
    and ftp fail
    with the following error :-

     A system error occured; error code found in errno

     ftp first gives
     Unknown host ... whether a host name or address was in the command!

      Both commands work OK when invoked by root. So it looks like the
     protections on some file or other are wrong. I have another system patched
     to the same level but that one works OK for both users and root.

     rlogin and other remote commands work on both machines.

    Thanks for all your suggestions ...
    Protection on /etc/protocols was wrong ... I think was 700 works with 755.
