I have an ES40 running Tru64 5.1b with an AIT 50/100 tape drive which
has worked great until here recently. I called the folks with our
maintenance contract and they brought an AIT drive which looks exactly
like the old one except for color and has the same model number. The
new one (refurbished) would only accept around 50gb when it would ask
for a new tape. They brought a second drive and it does the same
thing. I checked the dip switch settings and they are set correctly to
compress the data but still runs out of tape after 50gb of data.

The maintenance guys keep saying there is a problem with the software
but I told them the software hasnt changed and besides that if it is
compressing correctly then it should accept close to 100gb of data.

Any ideas or suggestions as to how I should proceed?? I wonder if they
make a 25/50 and if that is what Im getting but you would think it would
    have different model numbers.

    thanks for any input....
