    Greetings,

The best advice came from the venerable Tom Blinn. I can't express enough
thanks to this man. He freely gives his time and thought to our problems.

Unfortunately, most versions of Tru64 version 4.0 have a limitation (0-7) of
how many SCSI ids are used for devices.

    Some suggestions:

    Upgrade to Tru64 version 5.x.
    Use more controllers.

    What I did:

I configured 12 devices as units d1-d6 and d101-d106. This gave me 12
    devices as rrzb8 thru rrzg8 and rrzb9 thru rrg9. Interestingly, the rrz9
devices were d1-d6 and the rrz8 devices were d101-d106.

I then edited the partition maps to "give" me enough drives. I know the io
will be concentrated to the same devices but am comfortable with it.

Thanks to all for their suggestions!

    Jim

Subject: Tru64 version 4.0G on a storage array, scsi id greater than 7

    Greetings and Happy holidays!

I again find myself dipping into the communal pool of Tru64 knowledge.

I have an ES40 that I am trying to attach to a SAN. This system is using
KGPSA fibre controllers, connecting to a brocade switch, connecting to a
    hsg80.

    I built 10 units, d0 through d10.

Tru64 only sees the first eight, scsi id's 0-7. I've tried using emxmgr to
remap some id's but he only sees 2 devices, scsi id 0 and 1.

How do I get tru64 version 4.0g to see higher scsi id's?

    Thanks in advance.

    Jim

    P. S. I tried the HSG80's in SCSI-2 and SCSI-3 mode to no avail. They are
    running in transparent failover mode.
