SmartArray 5300A controller doesn't find new storage box

    I have an Alphaserver DS20E with a 2-port SmartArray 5300A RAID
controller. The internal disk cage is connected to Port 1.
I've added an external MSA-30 storage box and connected it to
the external Port 2 of the SmartArray 5300A. This hardware
should be a fully supported configuration.

Problem: After having connected the MSA-30 to my running
system (Tru64 v5.1B patch kit 4), I'm eagerly looking for the
2 disks that I've put in the MSA-30 for testing, but Tru64
*can't* see any new devices whatsoever :-( The "Array Diagnostic
Utility" (/usr/lbin/sainfo -t scp0 -P all) claims that there are
no devices at all connected to Port 2, contrary to actual facts.

I've run the Array Configuration Utility XE, but I don't seem
to be able to pick up any new devices on the SmartArray 5300A.
I've used this tool previously to add new disks to the internal
Port 1 disk cage, so I know that my setup is working correctly.

I have not been able to find any documentation about adding
storage boxes to SmartArray controllers, having read both
the SmartArray 5300A and MSA-30 documentation.

Question: What's the procedure for adding a storage box to
a SmartArray controller ? Is a server reboot required ?

    Thanks a lot,
