removing clients from NIS domain (modification)

    I've just realised my last message wasn't entirely clear. When I
    said I wanted to "remove" the client from the NIS domain, I should
    have been clear that I still want it to run independently of the NIS
    domain, not simply cease to run. [so "switch it off" is not actually
    the answer :) ]
