It turns out that HP does publish a binary platform compatibility
statement. It is very good news.
Here is the link. Thanks to those who helped and responded.

Subject: 5.1a versus 5.1b
Managers,
I have been tasked with analyzing the differences of 5.1a and 5.1b. The
goal being to understand the software differences between the 2 versions
of platforms in hope of delivering software compiled on 5.1a but
delivered to run on 5.1b. We are missing some required libraries to
compile on 5.1b.
Here is what I can think that would be useful if anyone has any
experience or information to offer;
1. Experience running applications compiled on 5.1a but run on 5.1b...
2. Differences between the platforms, 5.1a and 5.1b....
3. HP web site for information between differences...
4. Risks...
Any information regarding this would be helpful. TIA
Regards,
