Careful there. A SAN is nothing more than a "storage area network":
fibre cables and switches. HBAs, HSGs and such are network attachments,
not part of the network itself. The SAN neither facilitates nor prevents
anything, it simply provides connectivity. Period.

FC disks appear as DGA, not DUA. ...and yes, FC volumes can be boot
disks. Not sure about EMC, specifically, but it does work for
HSG-attached disks.

EMC does not support certain SCSI operations necessary for full support
of HBVS. As I understand it, if a disk block were to go bad and the data
be unrecoverable, VMS would be unable to write the forced error flag.
Therefore, HBVS would have no option other than to drop the member from
the shadow-set under a condition that would normally be recoverable.
