There is no reason why the DS15 could not be produced at a
competitive price to the rx1600. Sun's pricing of the Sun
V210/V240 show that it is perfectly possible to build and
non "commodity" server to a similar price point as
commodity x86 systems.

Thats not really the right answer, DS15 margins may well be low
but that doesn't mean that they ave to be it just means you hvae
to work a bit harder at designing cost out of the system and
improving your manufacturing process.
