We stopped using Galaxy because we need a CD drive for
installation/upgrade/maintenance reasons. If you do not need the physical
devices that belong to the primary galaxy instance, then go for it.
I have not setup shared memory on my 1280's. All of my systems are (hard
implicit) soft partitions. What I found when partitioning a 1280 was that
the memory allocation was linked to the CPU's that are active in the
partitions. This is because the CPU "Owns" the memory installed into it's
CPU drawer. So, when you install the hardware, you have to really look at
how you might want to partition it, and move your memory dimms accordingly.
