Not all. I bought my wife the Canon EOS 20D for her birthday/Christmas
present. Its configuration menu has 2 settings for communications: one
is called Normal (?) and the other PTP (Picture Transfer Protocol). I
have plugged many a digital camera into my PowerBook and the camera ap-
pears as a USB drive. The only way to get files from the Canon EOS 20D
is to set the communications mode to PTP and then I can import picutres
using iPhoto. I prefer to have the camera show up as a USB drive so I
can copy only pictures that I want. iPhoto wants to suck the contents
of the entire flash card (2GB but that is no were exhausted yet) to the
iPhoto photo library.

Note: iPhoto and PTP is the documented transfer mechanism in the Canon
manual.
