Your local OpenVMS guru is correct.
In addition to the attenuation provided by the SC008 Star Coupler -- as
was mentioned by other responders -- and assuming you do not simply fry
something as the signal at the CI receivers will be rather hotter than
expected; the signal definitely won't match expectations -- each CI
controller expects to hear itself -- its echo -- as part of its normal
CI cluster operations.
