Frightening? No. Confusing, yes. But I think the bottom line is to use
/NOALIAS except when restoring from pre-/ALIAS-BACKUP save sets. I
would guess that you could just not use any alias qualifier for V7 and
up. I know for v6.2 there is a small difference between the default and
using /NOALIAS. I get a few extra copies of a few aliased files when I
don't include /NOALIAS. I assume that's fixed in some later version.
