Indeed and I came across a case where two customers of a major network
service provider were able to send SNMP traffic between their two
private corporate networks by configuring a PC with a certain IP address
on the provider's "network management" subnet at each site. And this was
about the time there was a very serious Cisco bug allowing remote
control of the router via stack overflow attacks hidden in SNMP packets.
