Actually, it doesn't matter.

If all your jobs have the same logfile name, then you have a gazillion
jobNAME.log files without any tie in to the original job number in your
directory. If you do a /RETAIN=ERROR, does the SHOW ENTRY/FULL for a
failed job give you the exact log file name with version number or just
the generic logfile name without a version number ?

And as soon as job 471 is declared failed and /RETAINed on error, then
"471" will no longer be re-used until the job is deleted.

So having different log files for each job seems to be the best solution.
