An interesting development. I have to ask about your (Process Software)
perceptions on how such would be used.
As for VMS, TCP/IP, languages, and such, I can see their use in a
hobbyist environment.
However, when talking about E-Mail, Spam blocking, and such, I don't see
much of non-commercial use for such products. People will probably not
be using them strickly on their own systems, limited to mail between
their systems. They're going to set the products up to handle their
e-mail coming from outside. This is something they normally get with
their commercial ISP services which most are paying for.
I can sure see a use for this, I run my own Mail and Web servers at home, on
OpenVMS. This is strictly for Hobbyist usage, and I really want to get the
anti-spam software installed. Literally the day before this was announced a
co-worker and I were discussing the lack of a antispam solution for Hobbyist
OpenVMS systems, as she wants to setup a mail server running VMS at home.
BTW, neither of us work with VMS in our current jobs.
