Nice try Boob. But OpenVMS does not run on any "mainframe".
Also, they were talking about the licensing costs for zOS
being attractive. The same can not be said for OpenVMS.

They also talked about the power and AC requirements for
IBM systems having dropped considerably. And the Itanium?

Congratulations, you just gave the users of your favorite
OS another excuse to leave and head for IBM-land. :-)

gee Bill, you mean the superdome is not considered a mainframe?

I'm not aware of anything HP/Compaq/DEC have ever made that was
classed as a "mainframe". Minis and Superminis, but not "mainframe".
Got a reference where a Superdome is referec to as a mainframe?

and as far as power, itanium is slowly shrinking

And being the only thing in VMS's future, this is a good thing how?
Or are you trying to say it's heat and power consumption are sinking?
One would hope that with only a fraction of the performance it would
consume less power and generate less heat, but proportionatly that
doesn not seem to be the case and probably won't be until the line
is discontinued entirely.

... the advantages
of vms security and clustering and uptime far outweigh the small
power advantage IBM has ...

Keep dreaming. VMS has claimed these advantages for over a decade.
And still it's installed base shrinks and the industry just laughs
at most of the claims.
