Folks,
Yesterday I was poking around http://www.openvms.org when I discovered
the following article.
http://www.openvms.org/stories.php?story=07/03/16/5227410
with links to three really neat Bruden-OSSG documents in PPT format.
One of them describes "new functionality" added to OpenVMS 8.3
including:
New Lexicals:
F$CUNITS
F$MATCH_WILD
New Library:
LIB$CRC (can speed up tape backups by 50% by reducing CPU overhead)
New features in $BACKUP:
$BACKUP/REPAIR can repair ftp-induced-saveset-corruption
$BACKUP/DATA_FORMAT=COMPRESSED allows for ZLIB compressed backups
Check out the Bruden documents for more information.
p.s. I think I'll upgrade to OpenVMS 8.3 ASAP.
