When you go to HPs website, you can always get the prices for new PCs.
How come when there and you go to the OpenVMS systems, no prices are shown? I do not want to get contacted by sales people.
The prices you see at HP are "suggested retail price". You can frequently do better at PC Connection, CDW, Best Buy, or elsewhere! The prices you are quoted by HP for VMS systems can frequently be bettered by third parties. Years ago I bought a pair of ES40s for far less than list! They were "unused" rather than new. That meant that they had been sold to a customer who subsequently decided he had made a terrible mistake but they had never been installed or used. It was Compaq rather than HP at the time but the principle is the same. I think I saved my employer something like $50K. Those machines were still there when I left some five years later and I think they actually used them for another year after I left.
