What average percentage would the CPU represent for total power
consumption for
a system with one disk drive ?

I don't know, and I doubt the answer is very interesting. Is the system
with 1 disk drive an rx1620, or a superdome?

The QuickSpecs for the Integrity servers have some power dissipation
information. For example, the rx2620 lists 600 W as the "typical" maximum
power dissipation, 1350 W as the theoretical maximum. There's also a
table of AC power requirements with various HW configurations.

aka, if you have a CPU of 100watts, what would be the likely total power
consukption once you factor in the disk, memory, other chips and even the fans

Actually, a lot, maybe most, of the power used by a disk drive is friction
between the spinning platters and the air in the drive. A modern 10,000
or 15,000 RPM drive is pretty warm when you touch it. The circuit board
side is much cooler than the body of the drive itself.

Any thoughts of putting disks in vacuum ? wouldn't this greatly reduce air
resistance as well as making it easier for the heads to move since there
wouldn't be a strong current of air to fight against ?

I don't think typical drives would work in vacuum. Aerodynamic effects
are important in positioning the heads.

Also, if you evacuate the inside of the disk, the case would have to
support 1 atmosphere of pressure without imploding. It would also have to
be strong enough to not deform significantly as the barometric pressure
outside changed. And maintaining such a vacuum over the life of the disk
drive would require rather expensive seals and manufacturing processes.
Nature abhors a vacuum, y'know.
