If you know the laws of physics, it doesn't matter why.
It does matter why. And another point... they don't know all the
laws of physics. This idea that academia promulgates is just a
form of arrogance that for some reason reeks in academia these
days. The good scientist knows that they don't have all the
answers and knows that there are still undiscovered laws.
If you watch
the video mentioned below you'll see Dr. Feynman (a Nobel Prize
winner) quote Isaac Newton in responding to criticisms that his
theory doesn't explain why or how gravity works.
That begs the next question: where are the anti-gravity devices
then? There aren't any because no one knows what gravity is
precisely.
It was something like, "I
tell you the law and you can predict how the stars and planets
will go and that's enough." Please see the video for a better
understanding of it. I think you don't need the full 35-minute
intro to get that far, but I strongly recommend watching at least
that much.
The part where he says 'that is enough' isn't enough. That
thought is
Not enough for what? We went to the moon based on Newton's theory of
gravity!
So? That doesn't mean that our scientists know everything there is
to know about gravity. I can throw a rock and make it skip across a
pond, but it doesn't mean I know everything there is to know about
gravity.
I never said anyone knows everything there is to know about gravity.
No one knows everything about anything. So what's your point?
born out of desperation and ignorance because he can not move
forward thru a difficult thought process.
I was going to try to be polite but this statement is beyond
ridiculous.
How so?
Watch the Feynman video and you'll see the answer. I'm not going to
transcribe the video for you. Kindly watch the video or cease making
such statements.
It is a fact that Isaac Newton was one of the smartest
humans who ever walked the face of the earth.
If you traced Sir Isaac Newtons travels you'll find that he went thru
India in times past. In the old Indian libraries that are thousands
of years old you'll find all of the so called Newtonian physics
already written down. The real problem is the academics claiming it
for their very own along with Newton claiming it for his own. Do
you really believe he invented the calculus in three short years?
Most likely he spent those three years reading about it in India.
Sounds pretty bogus to me. According to the standard history, Newton
was a secretive man and his discoveries had to be cajoled out of him
by Halley. Do you have anything to back up your claim? I find it
difficult to believe the Indians just sat on this discovery for
thousands of years.
Wiki is your friend, for what it's worth
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kerala_School
You might at least have provided the critical conclusion from that article, rather than leaving it to everyone else to find it:
"the Kerala School cannot be said to have invented calculus,[2] because, while they were able to develop Taylor series expansions for the important trigonometric functions, they developed neither a comprehensive theory of differentiation or integration, nor the fundamental theorem of calculus"
And of course the Kerala school work predated Newton by only a couple of hundred years, not 'thousands'.
Other linked Wikipedia articles tracing the history of related mathematics make it clear that nothing resembling a coherent understanding of calculus existed in India or anywhere else until Newton (closely followed by Leibniz' independent work) invented it.
So, as usual, Maverick's fevered imagination has run wild again, serving up 'facts' which are pure fantasy.
Guffaw!! Well Bill, you've just proven you can't read. Read it again.
I am correct, but you just can't bring yourself up to admit you are wrong... as usual.
> The Indians did not invent calculus,
their related work was not 'thousands of year' earlier, and (as David observed) Newton's life is well-recorded and there's no mention of any trip to India (which was not just a matter of hopping a 747 back then: it was a major undertaking in both time and effort, and Newton was rather famously otherwise occupied - I'll take this opportunity to plug Neal Stephenson's marvelous 'Baroque Cycle', a historical trilogy revolving to a significant extent around Newton, though that falls far short of even beginning to describe its complete content).
Read it again... "before Newton"... and Newton *did* visit India before his so called plagiarized discovery of Gravity and calculus.
In other words, Maverick's understanding in this area in on a par with his understanding of global warming - no surprise there for me, but anyone who might have been inclined to give his GW views any real weight might be well-advised to reconsider: Internet wackos are a dime a dozen, and c.o.v. doesn't appear to enjoy any special immunity from them.
Your ignorance is understandable and can be cured.
Now go get a real education instead of from a cracker-jack box.
The whacko is you if you'd care to look in a mirror.
Can I sell you hard hard with your chicken-little attitude?
