OK, I'll be brutal :-(
I've just caught up, listening from episode 3 through 7
First, I want to emphasise that I enjoy the broadcasts and value all contributors and the people who put it together. Since Sue has demanded comments, I and forced to find something to say, for fear of being duct taped again :-)
My worthless opinions are made randomly, not in any particular order of importance.
-Some of the sound effects and music could be made shorter. For instance, for the time change stuff, having clocks/bells last a few seconds would be enough. No need to emulate Pink Floyd's "Time" that starts with bells and chimes and clocks that last for a long time :-) (Note if I had listened to only the last episode, I probably would not have made that comment).
-Mr Hoff needs to speak louder. perhaps someone would just need to mention "porting VMS to the 8086" a few times just before he starts to record to get his blood pressure and voice volume to increase :-) :-) :-)
-Mr Khurt (sp?) pronounced Jean-François extremely well, "Pierronne" wasn't perfect but was more than good enough. His presentation/speaking skills are very good and make the broadcasts very entertaining. (how's that for a brutal criticisism ?)
-OK, this is a very general comment that applies to many segments. For example, the BACKUP /ENCRYPT. Instead of taking the time to describe various permutations for /ENCRYPT=, it might be better to simply mention that there are qualifiers to /ENCRYPT that lets you specify the encryption algorithm and to refer to on-line help to get them. An exception to this would be for undocumented parameters/qualifiers.
-Generally, I think each segment should be shorter. People shouldn't spell out URLs. Mr Khurt could simply end the segment by pointing that the URLs are all listed on the ____VMS.ORG website.
-It is neat to have speakers with different accents, including proper british english since it gives a more "global community" feeling.
-I don't like the term "webisode" or "podcast". "Episode" or "Installment" are fine and look more professional.
