setup a rig with mirrors where the A-B-D path is *exactly* the same
length as the A-C-D path, down to a point where you may need to consider
coriolis effect due to rotation of the earth.

Getting the paths equal isn't hard. If you use a light source
with a short coherence length (ordinary light bulb) you only get
interference when they are very close. Also, look into optical
gyroscopes which measure the change in interference as the system
rotates.
