Yes, the most visible difference between various versions of wwidmgr
is the number of paths that you can configure.
It is a while ago, but configuring both the EMC and the Hitachi's was
no problem.

The hard part is to make sure that the version of SRM is supported by
the version of controller firmware and adapter firmware. The last
couple of rev's of HSG80 firmware where not good (8.4???, 8.7???). It
sounds like you are adding FC adapters for the first time, and if so,
also check firmware of all the pieces of the system, including the
version of the PCI card cage hardware ("B0" I think, though that
requirement may have been for CIPCAs).
Be sure you understand the use of WWIDMGR, and if you use HBVS on the
boot volumes and DOSD, the impact and limits of multiple paths in SRM..
