Anyone know what's up?

Check the news. Trees are down over power wires. Power is down,
Hundreds of thousands of houses without power in the NH and MA where
Hoff, and myself are located.

Myself I lost power Thursday night 12/11 and some say it might only be
back Friday 12/19. The local electricity company only gives wishy
washy contentless updates "lots of folks out, we are working on it".

I'm typing this using laptop batteries. My phone (and thus DSL) is
down.
I asked a neighbour (Atlant, rememer him?) to open up his network
(cable, with router running of a car battery).

One neigtbour fortunately installed and runs a whole house natural gas
generator.
They graceiously offered an outlet. We rotate 200+ feet of extentions
cords between 4 houses for 3 hour power on, 9 hours off, to power the
furnaces, freezers and hot water heaters.

We are 'lucky' to have running town water and gas (allthough the water
was cut yesterday to fiddle with its emergency power). Many here have
wells+pump thus not water either.

Cheers,
Hein,
