There is a "bug" in AUTOGEN. If one has a global symbol "STATUS"
defined (I know, bad idea---I'm happy to report that it wasn't on one of
my systems where I noticed this), then at some point this is used as the
value for "EXIT" (presumably because the local symbol "STATUS" doesn't
get set within the AUTOGEN procedure; whether this is a bug or feature I
don't know). This results in the code branching to the "HELP" mode,
i.e. printing out the usage information.
Phillip,
A few questions: Precisely which version of OpenVMS has the "problem"?
Secondly, have you looked at the source and checked if the problem is
simply a missing "$" (e.g., STATUS should perhaps be $STATUS)?
