Hi.

We have some kind of problem with some of our DCPS
queues and I'd like to hear if anyone else have seen
the same symptoms.

It *seems* as DCPS have some kind of problems to wake-up
Xerox printers that have gone into power-save mode. The
entry on the queue is in "Starting" status forever (and
the rest of the entries, if any, are on the generic
queue pointing to the DCPS queue).

This is "cured" by a STOP/QUE/RESET and a START/QUE on
the actual queue. That seems to wake the printer and
everything works just fine from then on (until the
next time the printer have been idle for some time).

FWIW, here are some info about one queue I just restarted:

$ sh que RIDER_GM_XEROX_3250_PCL/fu

Printer queue RIDER_GM_XEROX_3250_PCL, idle, on HV06::"IP_LPD/10.32.141.250",
mounted form SET_ISO11 (stock=DEFAULT)
  /BASE_PRIORITY=4 /DEFAULT=(FEED,FORM=SET_ISO11 (stock=DEFAULT))
  /NOENABLE_GENERIC /LIBRARY=DCPS_LIB Lowercase /OWNER=[SYSTEM]
  /PROCESSOR=DCPS$SMB /PROTECTION=(S:M,O:D,G:R,W:S) /SCHEDULE=(NOSIZE)

$ sh log *RIDER_GM_XEROX_3250_PCL*

(LNM$SYSTEM_TABLE)

   "DCPS$RIDER_GM_XEROX_3250_PCL_PARAMETER" = "DATA_TYPE=PCL"
   "DCPS$RIDER_GM_XEROX_3250_PCL_PID" = "00000814"

This is a Xerox Phaser 3250, b.t.w.

Message that are seen in OPERATOR.LOG during this times
(in different combinations) are :

%DCPS-I-PRINTERSTALLED, Printer "IP_LPD/10.32.141.250" is stalled
%DCPS-F-IVCHAN, invalid I/O channel
%DCPS-F-CONTERMINATED, Connection abnormally terminated

The "INCHAN" message seems to come during the restart of
the queue.

Regards,
Jan-Erik.

What version of DCPS and do you think this model of Xerox Phaser
printer is supported?
