Just for the sake of completeness, could you give the type designation of
the IBM drives? I ask this because there are perhaps a dozen different
drives that fit the name "9GB IBM SCSI drive". Some of them use more
power than others. Some of the newer ones use less power than old 3.5"
form-factor 1GB drives. But this should not keep you from suspecting
power supply problems.
