I suppose that could be, but it is irrelevent.

When I remove a fan, I still have a good Shelf_OK signal.

I can test the Shelf_OK by inserting a second power supply (with no
power cord attached). The HSZ50 then reports a fan or power supply
failure. The failure is cleared when the second power supply is removed
(or gets power).
