    I suspect that the fan is what is actually pulling down the "Shelf_OK"
    signal. Therefore, removing the fan is removing the capability of pulling
    the signal down.

    Wonder what would happen if you shoved a stick into one of the fans? I
    just did (actually, the end of a cable tie). In addition to a wonderful
    stream of dust emitting from the fan (and all over my clean white T-shirt)
    and the noise of a cable tie being inserted into a squirrel cage fan, the
    other fan sped up considerably. Since this is on a BA350, there are no
    lights to look at, but I suspect that if I had lights, one of them would be
    on.
