^C should work, but if bootdef_dev is an internal drive you don't have very
much time. Keep hitting it.
If you shutdown Redhat normally, it should go to the console prompt.
There is a small halt button near the power button on the front.
If all 3 of those things fail, you can power down the machine and unplug the
hard drive. When you power up, you'll get a SRM error about not being able
to boot because the drive can't be found. You can "set auto_action halt"
from there and then power down again and reconnect the drive.
