The value of second hand gear is difficult to guess. Look at eBay for prices
of, say, 18 GB SCSI disks. The price varies between $1 and $30. Same for an
AS255. For a collector it may have some value, but as you write you can pick
up faster systems free of charge, especially white box alpha's. The AS255
has one real advantage: it is small and won't upset your better half when it
is carried into the house. Power consumption is on par with a PC (try
running a big alpha for a normal period of time :-). But you wanted a value,
depending on the disks, say eur 50. (I paid eur. 100 for a Digital Server
3300 and two PC's a couple of months ago).
