If they were written with PIP, there's a good chance they may be ANSI
labelled. In that case, VMS will MOUNT them without /FOREIGN.
Otherwise, you could MOUNT/FOREIGN the tapes on VMS and use DUMP to see
what you're up against.
The density may turn out to be the biggest challenge. Could be 800BPI,
