    Device 12 is the serial controller according to my manual, and my ailing
    memory is telling me it has seen those "CRPT" messages when there was a
    fault on a VT console. Are you seeing this on a graphics console or a
    serial device ?

    Probably time to take the machine apart and put it back together again and
    hope it is something temporary. As far as your low-8Mb error report is
    concerned, no I don't think you can bypass or disable the system memory.
