In article <4ZOdnW9TodP-PT_dRVn-vA@comcast.com>, "Phillip D. Williams" <dwilliams296@comcast.net> writes:

:I'm trying to get one of the above cards to work in a 4000-500. The CSR and
:interrupt at set correctly, but when I do a show dev only one tx device
:shows up and its off line. The 4000-500 is configure as follows
    :slot 6 KLESI
    :slot 7 CXY08
    :slot 8 KZQSA
:slot 9 MTI scsi tape controller
    :slot 10 TK70 controller
    :slot 11 SIGMA RQD11 scsi disk/tape controller
:Every controller shows up correctly - I even removed every board and just
:installed the CXY08 but no luck. The 4000-500 is running 7.3 and all the
:DSSI buses have a terminator on it. I also switched around the boards and
    :even tried different CXY boards.

The statement "all CSRs and vectors are set correctly" does not
appear to match with the remainder of the problem statement.

Please search for "serpentine" in the Ask The Wizard area -- it is
almost certain that one or more of the CSRs and/or one or more of
the interrupt vectors on one or more of the Qbus modules present
      in this system is/are mis-set.

What you see in displays of the interrupt vector is what the VAX
console or the OpenVMS SYSGEN utility calculates the Q-bus module
should be set to, and not necessarily what the module is actually
      set to.

Again, search for "serpentine" for several long write-ups on how
to set up a Q-bus -- it's _really_ easy to misconfigure the CSRs
      and/or the vectors.
