    Be forewarned that if you format a DECtape II in an HP-85, or most anything
    else, it will never again work in an actual DECtape II drive (TU58).
    DECtape II tapes are preformatted, and the DECtape II drive is not
    capable of reformatting them.

    It is rumored that firmware for the TU58 drive to format tapes existed
    within DEC, but no copy of this firmware has been found.
