As for the Seagate ST15150N drive...

That provides some background on this.
I don't immediately see any firmware available for this drive at the
Seagate website -- these tended to be OEM drives, and sold through
various channels. If this drive was sold via DIGITAL for use with
OpenVMS, it should have an RZ-series number assigned to it.
The other obvious option is to replace these Seagate ST15150N SCSI
drives -- the capacity is circa 4.3 GB, after all, and bigger disks
are readily available on eBay and elsewhere -- with another disk,
or with a whole shelf.
Patching drivers tends to lead to "fun" when applying upgrades and
ECOs and such -- when you can least need or want to deal with it...
But you knew that.
