That is also true. Generally in power wiring, the fusing system is a
slow blow type and surges are allowed. I think the start up current of
an RM03 was something like 27 amps but it was OK to use a 13 amp supply
because it was not a continuous draw. It settled around 6 or 7 amps if
memory serves.

This is why you'll see some power control devices mention resistive
loads and inductive loads, the inductive loads can momentarily go well
outside what is expected.

When I'm powering on my VAX 4000 (BA215 chassis), in my old house it
used to dim the lights briefly. How I am in a house with 2 socket
circuits, one (the computers are on) is the "computer room" and the
kitchen (traditionally heavy appliances), and the other, remainder of
the house. I'm in the process of putting in a separate 32A fused supply
with 6mm *unenclosed* cable (you have to de-rate the power if it is
enclosed / insulated).

Good points and worthy of note. "If in doubt seek the advice of a
qualified electrician".
