That's probably either a Dallas Semi or Benchmarq cmos/clock/battery chip. What
is the part number on the chip? It has probably reached the end of its life,
estimated at 8-10 years by either manufacturer. If the AS1000 takes the right
part number, I have a few here. I'll sell you a couple for cheap. The chip is
socketed and can be removed from the socket. Carefully... Ben Myers
